Adam Meyer, Provost of The Juilliard School

Adam Meyer (MM ’04, viola) became provost of The Juilliard School in July 2020. He joined the Juilliard administration in 2011 as associate dean for administration and also served as director of the music division and deputy dean of the college. 在这个角色中, he worked closely with the provost and dean overseeing a wide range of projects and planning that affected students, 教师, and staff across the music, 跳舞, 戏剧部门.

A committed advocate for students and 教师, Meyer has had a tremendous impact throughout the school. Meyer has worked to improve the educational and artistic experience for students, particularly in the orchestra, 室内乐, and composition departments. He has recruited and hired key studio 教师 and helped establish 教师 evaluation procedures to make space for student feedback and increase transparency about administrative processes. In partnership with other senior leaders, Meyer has developed and implemented initiatives in classroom and entrepreneurship curricula and been involved in the school's accreditation process. He has had a leadership role in collaborations with National Sawdust, 斯芬克斯的组织, the Royal Academy of 音乐, and the Sibelius Academy. Meyer has also contributed to the forthcoming launch of Juilliard’s new branch campus in Tianjin, 中国, supporting curriculum development and hiring the resident 教师.

Meyer has served as a deputy Title IX Coordinator and as a member of the Equity, 多样性, 包容性, and 归属感 (EDIB) Taskforce, the Scholastic Standing Committee, admissions and financial aid committees, and the Assessment and Care Team, 等.

In addition to his work at Juilliard, Meyer served as the dean of students for the Perlman 音乐 Program (PMP) from 2008 to 2019, and has been on the 教师 of the New York Youth Symphony Chamber 音乐 Program since 2004.

Meyer holds a master’s degree from Juilliard, a bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin Conservatory, and a doctor of musical arts from Stony Brook University. His viola teachers have included Heidi Castleman, 凯瑟琳·默多克, 彼得Slowik, Hsin-Yun黄, and Sherida Josephson.
